Introducing the Mini Home Meditation Retreat by Dr Kamila Hortynska
With 20+ years of experience as a Clinical Psychologist, CBT Psychotherapist, and Mindfulness Teacher, I know just how important the practice of meditation is to leading a fulfilled and meaningful life.
This Mini Home Mindfulness Retreat is for people who would like to establish a home meditation practice, or connect more deeply with their existing meditation practice from the comfort of their home.
This retreat consists of a collection of 7 meditations (total running time with no breaks is just over 2.5h). It can be completed in one go (one morning or evening) or over the course of 7 consecutive days, forming a week long introduction to a range of mindfulness practices.
If you choose to do it this way there is one meditation per day and it can be repeated for as many weeks as you like.
To get the most out of this retreat you will need a space where you will not be distracted by other people and which can serve as your meditation space.

What meditations are included in this Mini Home Retreat which can be spread over 7 consecutive days?
Day 1: Grounding With Breath Meditation
Breath awareness, also called grounding with the breath, is a meditation practice that helps you create a powerful, resilient connection with the earth. By becoming more present and mindful of your breath, you can focus on who you are in this moment and take a step back from any stress, anxiety, or panic to gain emotional balance.
Grounding with the breath is a powerful tool to calm your mind, relieve stress, and help you relax. Using the familiar pattern of inhaling and exhaling, ground yourself in the present moment as you prepare for meditation.
Day 2: Grounding With Sound Meditation
Sound is everywhere, and we rarely think about it. This meditation will teach you how to use the power of sound to tap into your natural abilities, achieve amazing things and make you feel calm, confident, and happy.
There is a one-directional flow of energy between the mind and body that connects us all. This meditation will help you identify, acknowledge and strengthen that energy flow with the audible sounds in your environment. We usually think of sounds as distractions rather than tools, but here you will learn to use them intentionally to keep your attention on your breath.
Day 3: Mindful Stretching Meditation
Stretching, grounding, and giving your body some love can do wonders. This is a meditation for the whole body. The idea is to get you settled and relaxed and then focus on body awareness and stretching practices to feel more open in your body.
You can experience a sense of inner peace, self-confidence, and enthusiasm when you are grounded. In this meditation, you learn how to ground yourself using the body. Deepen your awareness of body sensations, stretch the body and then relax again to release tension.
Day 4: Mindful Eating Meditation
Mindful eating is a meditation that aims to develop awareness around food and eating. It is helpful for those with a troubled relationship with food or prone to overeat. This practice encourages slowing down your meal and paying attention, leading to improved digestion and better focus on the present moment.
Day 5: Gratitude and Loving Kindness Meditation
Happiness doesn’t just happen. It’s a practice, and this meditation is designed to help you slow down, tune in to the present moment, and appreciate the world around you. You’ll use visualization techniques to enhance the feelings of gratitude and loving kindness – and they’ll bring even more pleasure into your life.
Day 6: Body Scan Meditation
The body scan meditation is a wonderfully nourishing and relaxing way to cultivate awareness in the body. It is one of the most common mindfulness practices and is great for calming ourselves when anxious.
Connect with your senses and body in this 6th mindfulness practice. The body scan meditation will bring you full relaxation during turbulent times.
Day 7: Sensing Thinking Hearing Meditation
Sensing, thinking, hearing, and seeing are all different ways of perceiving. Learn how to use your senses to become more aware of yourself and others, becoming more present. If you want to become a better observer of your life and you’re starting to realize that experience is the only teacher, this is a great meditation practice for you. The objective of this meditation is to experience your senses, thoughts, or emotions as they are happening.
